Sailing: Summer, Fall, Spring and Winter

During summer, fall and spring to explore the island I paddle my kayak mostly inside the various harbors and inlets. It gives a very different perspective of the island and it flora and boating.

Last winter was a bear for most folks in the Northeast US. On the island Nantucket some folks are creative and adaptive. Sailing happened this winter as Ice Sailing, though I prefer sailing on the ocean when it is liquid.

At this time of year it is fun to ride around the island to look and see what is blossoming out in the wild or even in our own back yard. It is enjoyable to seek out leaves, buds and blossoms sometimes close to the end of February on Nantucket. I began searching and recording the flora I observe growing back in the mid 1990's.  During the season we are so busy, searching might take place very early morning or after dinner. This spring was exceptionally nice, especially the month of June.
