NRTA, Nantucket's seasonal public transportation systems operates buses equiped with bicycle racks. The bus routes run parellel to bike paths and be met at one of the various bus stops along the bike paths. There are bike racks posted at bus stops and all about town.
Bringing a bike or renting one on the island is easy with the help of the ferry lines and bicycle rental shops. Some shops are close by the piers where the ferry boats dock. There is even a bike rental shop on the road coming from the airport and another on Surfside Rd.
If you do bring your bike, you will find that no matter which direction you ride, there is flora and fauna, beaches and grand views guaranteed to take your breath away. Check out the man made beauty in the form of architecture in town and all over the island.
Please be sure to wear a helmet and mind the one way signs and enjoy the fresh ocean air.
Bicycles must be walked on the sidewalks in town, if not ridden on the streets.
